Phenomenon of Light The Series 2: SACRED | Faith | Sri Chum

Sukhothai Historical Park is world-renowned for its breathtaking ancient ruins, but have you ever wondered what these magnificent structures look like when brought to life under the night sky?

If you are planning a visit to Sukhothai, we are thrilled to share an extraordinary, limited-time event that you simply cannot miss: "Phenomenon of Light The Series 2: SACRED Faith Sri Chum."

Held at the iconic Wat Si Chum—home to the legendary giant seated Buddha, Phra Achana—this spectacular event completely transforms the 700-year-old sanctuary. Through cutting-edge projection mapping, colorful lasers, and immersive mixed media, the ancient brick walls become a glowing canvas.

As you can see from the stunning photos we've captured, the nighttime atmosphere is nothing short of magical.

Watch as historical figures and vivid scenes of ancient Sukhothai are projected directly onto the towering Mondop (the square building enclosing the Buddha). The revered Buddha image is illuminated in ethereal blues, golds, and vibrant colors, framed perfectly by the narrow opening of the sanctuary. Spectacular laser beams cut through the dark night sky, bridging the gap between Sukhothai's glorious past and the modern era. The light and sound show is designed to tell the story of a "time-traveling journey of the soul and the enduring faith of Sukhothai." It is a truly spiritual and mesmerizing experience that leaves a lasting impression on everyone who witnesses it.

Planning a trip to Thailand’s ancient kingdom is exciting, but figuring out the logistics of getting here can be a major headache for foreign travelers. Because Sukhothai doesn't have a major international airport or its own railway station in town, the journey requires a little bit of planning. But don't worry—as your local experts at Sukhojai, we have broken down the journey into this simple, step-by-step guide to help you get here from Bangkok or Chiang Mai without the stress. Read This Before You Book Your Tickets! The biggest mistake foreigners make is not realizing there are two Sukhothais: New Sukhothai: The modern city where the main bus terminal is located. Sukhothai Old Town (Mueang Kao): The historical park where the ancient ruins are. This is likely where you want to be! Local Tip: New and Old Sukhothai are 12 kilometers (about 7.5 miles) apart. When booking buses or airport shuttles, check if they drop off at the "Sukhothai Bus Terminal" (New Town) or near the "Historical Park" (Old Town). If you end up in the New Town, you can easily catch a local Songthaew (shared truck) or a Tuk-Tuk to the Old Town for a fee.
