Discover the hidden gem of Wat Chetuphon, a stunning 15th-century temple located just outside the ancient Sukhothai city walls. This unique temple is celebrated for a main structure inspired by the four-posture Buddha image, showcasing the incredible craftsmanship of the ancient kingdom. The temple was ingeniously constructed using slate stone designed to mimic intricate wooden structures, such as door frames, window frames, and balustrades—making it a must-see for heritage travelers.


Following your exploration of Wat Chetuphon, you will be guided through the intricate process of creating your own Buddhist votive tablets (Phra Phim). While widely known to modern Thais as protective Buddhist amulets (Phra Khreuang), you will learn that these objects were originally created for a very different purpose. Historically, making these tablets was an act of merit-making intended to preserve Buddhist teachings and history for future generations, often buried away in stupas rather than worn as lucky charms.


Skilled local artisans will teach you the deep symbolism behind these tablets. Explore traditional materials and hands-on techniques, such as clay and stucco molding.

Dress Code for Sacred Sites

  • We will be visiting active and ancient religious site. All guests must wear clothing that covers their shoulders and knees (e.g., t-shirts with sleeves, long trousers, or skirts below the knee). 

Vehicle & Tour Logistics

  • Vehicle Allocation: To provide the most intimate experience, bookings of 1 to 3 guests are serviced by a private A/C sedan, where your expert heritage guide will also act as your driver. 
  • Pick-up/Drop-off: Included transfers are strictly for hotels located within the Old Town or New Town Sukhothai area.
What to bring
    • Comfortable, Lightweight Clothing: Breathable fabrics are recommended.
    • Temple-Appropriate Attire: As we will be visiting sacred sites, we kindly ask that you dress respectfully. Please ensure your shoulders and knees are covered. A T-shirt and shorts/trousers/skirt that cover the knees are perfect. A light scarf or sarong is also a great option for covering up when needed.
    • Comfortable Walking Shoes: You will be walking around the temple grounds, so we recommend sneakers or comfortable sandals.
    • Insect Repellent: This is highly recommended! Mosquitoes can be active around the sites, especially near the ponds.
    • Sunglasses & Hat: The sun can still be bright when it's getting close to noon.
    • Personal Medication: Please bring any personal medication you may require.
